Beyond the boundaries
(Susan Hollindale)
Purpose
To build confidence and encourage Year 11 students to be able to recognise their strengths in making and appraising art, while validating their individual working process.
Description
This unit is developed on the concept of Journey to encourage students to observe everyday objects and events, and challenge the notion of a 'book'. A framework will be established with discussion and reference to art work in a range of historical, cultural and social contexts, to enable students to make a personal connection with the concept, resulting in ownership of their art making.
Each student will be supported to see the purpose and benefit of:
- the research, develop and resolve model
- the interrelatedness of making and appraising in the subject, and the relevance of research to inform their practice
- knowledgeable informal and formal discussion
- valuing the diverse forms of visual art in different cultures and contexts.
